Where Do Yacht Charters Depart From in Bali? Serangan Harbour, Pickup Areas & Timing
3 min read
"Where do we actually go on the morning?" is the most practical question in yacht chartering, and the one most websites bury. The answer is simple: Serangan Harbour, south Bali — and in most cases, we come to you first.
Serangan Harbour: why charters leave from here
Serangan sits on Bali's southeast coast, which makes it the natural launch point for everything a charter day is built around: the crossing to Nusa Penida and Lembongan, the sheltered water off Nusa Dua for sunset trips, and the offshore banks that fishing charters run to.
It's a working harbour, not a marina resort — the glamour starts when you step on deck, which is exactly how it should be.
Hotel pickup: how it works area by area
Pickup is available on request from Sanur, Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Canggu, and Ubud. We confirm your exact pickup time the day before, calibrated to Bali traffic rather than map distance — Canggu at 7 am is a very different drive from Canggu at 9 am.
Rough travel times to Serangan: Sanur and Nusa Dua are the short hops (20–30 minutes), Seminyak sits in the middle (30–45), Canggu and Ubud are the early alarms (roughly an hour, traffic depending). Fishing charters have their own earlier rhythm — covered separately.
Timing your morning
Full-day trips aim to cast off around 8–9 am — early enough to reach Manta Point before the group-tour fleet, late enough to be civilised. Sunset charters board mid-afternoon, which conveniently dodges the worst traffic in both directions.
If you're self-driving or taking a Grab/Gojek, aim to arrive 15 minutes before departure; the crew meets you at the harbour and handles everything from the car door onward.
The practical checklist
- ◆Departure point — Serangan Harbour, south Bali (we send the exact pin with your confirmation)
- ◆Pickup areas — Sanur, Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud; other areas on request
- ◆Pickup confirmation — the day before, timed to real traffic
- ◆Arriving on your own — 15 minutes early is plenty; parking is available
- ◆What to bring — very little; see the packing list
Frequently asked questions
Do all trips leave from the same harbour?
Yes — every charter departs from Serangan Harbour in south Bali. It's the best-positioned launch point for Nusa Penida, the Nusa Dua coast, and the offshore fishing grounds alike.
Is hotel pickup included in the charter price?
Pickup from Sanur, Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Canggu, and Ubud is arranged on request — included or added as a small round-trip transfer depending on the trip. Ask when you book.
Can you pick us up from an area not on the list?
Often yes — Uluwatu, Jimbaran, and other areas can usually be arranged. Message us with your location and we'll confirm timing and cost before you commit.
What if we're late to the harbour?
Tell the crew as soon as you know — a private charter waits for its guests in a way a group boat never will, though a late start shortens your day on the water, not the crew's flexibility.
