Birthday Party on a Private Yacht in Bali: How to Plan It

3 min read

Group of friends celebrating on the deck of a private yacht in Bali

A beach club gives you a table. A villa gives you the same pool you've seen all week. A yacht gives the birthday person the one thing that still impresses everyone in the group photo: their own boat for the day. Here's how to plan it so the day runs itself.

Pick the format around the group, not the date

For an evening crowd that wants drinks, music, and golden-hour photos, a sunset charter is the sweet spot — three hours is exactly as long as a party stays great.

For a group that wants a full adventure — snorkeling, Manta Point, paddleboards, lunch on deck — book the full day and let the boat be the venue, the transport, and the activity at once. Undecided groups should read half day vs full day first.

The 12-guest rule

The yacht takes up to 12 guests plus 3 crew, and charters are never mixed with other groups. Twelve is a genuine sweet spot for a birthday: big enough for atmosphere, small enough that nobody spends the party shouting across a venue.

Bigger group? A custom charter conversation can explore multi-boat options — ask before you assume it won't work.

Cake, decor, and the things crews are quietly great at

Bring your own cake and the crew will chill it, hide it, and produce it on cue with the engine off and the phones out. Decor and flowers can be added to the booking and set up before boarding, so even the birthday person's first step on deck is part of the show.

Your own drinks are welcome with no corkage fee — most groups bring champagne or wine and let the on-board soft drinks and snacks cover the rest.

Worth adding for a birthday

  • Photographer — one person who isn't in the group photos is the person who should be taking them
  • Private chef — turns the anchor stop into the dinner party
  • Jet skis — the add-on that splits every group into two very happy camps
  • Drone videographer — the birthday video that ends the group chat debate about whose party was best

Timing and booking

Sunset slots are the first to go in high season, so book a few weeks out for July–August or holiday-week birthdays. The booking process is a 30% deposit and one conversation about what the day is for — that conversation is where the good birthdays are made.

Frequently asked questions

Can we bring our own cake, drinks, and decorations?

Yes to all three, with no corkage fee. The crew will chill and stage the cake for the moment, and if you'd rather not carry decor through an airport, decor and flowers can be added to the booking instead.

How many people can join a yacht birthday party?

Up to 12 guests plus 3 crew. Every charter is private — the boat is exclusively your group's for the trip.

Can we play our own music on board?

Yes — the yacht has a sound system, so bring a playlist and a phone. Out at anchor, volume is between you and the ocean.

What happens if it rains on the birthday?

Light rain doesn't stop a party — the deck has covered space and Bali showers pass quickly. If conditions are genuinely unsafe, we reschedule or refund in full, so the worst case is a birthday postponed, not lost.
